The BBM Rhythm Ensemble, based in central New Hampshire, USA, is seeking positive, open-minded musicians and students! We are an organization that seeks to bring together people of all cultures, races, ages, gender, backgrounds etc, and have several opportunities:
We’re seeking motivated students to join/form a new development troupe. This is an exciting opportunity to study traditional West African djembe/dunun music in a small group, learning complex arrangements, breaks, solos etc, with the future potential to perform with an experienced group.
We’re seeking immediately to audition talented balafon, djembe, and dunun players who have experience with Mandinka styles of music, with the aim of joining our performance group.
In either case, must live in the New England, USA area and be able to meet regularly for rehearsals and/or gigs, as well as have the ability to learn new music independently, and can travel if needed.
For other inquiries, please contact Dave for more details.
About us: Our group is a fun-spirited, open-minded, and dedicated bunch of folks who have studied extensively in Guinea, West Africa, and have performed throughout New England over the last 7-8 years. Our underlying goal is to promote and honor the cultural traditions of our world, while inspiring and educating the public about the importance of cultural diversity, human rights, and social equality issues. Community building is also part of our core.
We released out first CD, a collection of traditional West African music entitled “Wading into the River Djoliba”, last year. More info on the group can be found at:
